Podiatry

There are many conditions related to the feet and lower limbs, and people living with intellectual disability can be more prone to problems such as hyper-flexibility and gait issues.

Minda's Southern Disability Support has a strong relationship with a podiatrist expert in providing services for people living with Intellectual Disability.

Podiatrists deal with the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of medical and surgical conditions of the feet and lower limbs, such as:

  • Bone and joint disorders (like arthritis)
  • Soft tissue and muscular issues
  • Circulation problems
  • Skin and nail disorders
  • Corns, calluses and ingrown toenails
  • Foot injuries and infections

We will work with you and your family or carer to encourage foot health by coming up with a treatment plan, discussing foot care techniques and how to prevent future problems.

The Podiatrist is there to make you feel comfortable, offer suitable appointment times and utilise positive behavioural strategies, and can modify the service to suit you and your needs.
