Respite

Respite Services were developed in response to a need for families to have a break from full-time care of their family member with an intellectual disability.  Today this service provides:

To families:

  • Relief from caring
  • Support
  • Enhanced networks
  • Time for other family members
  • Support in emergency situations
  • School holiday vacation care
  • Assists maintaining child in the family setting.

To individuals:

  • Overnight community-based respite
  • A break from the family
  • New experiences
  • Friendships and acquaintances
  • Enhanced quality of life
  • Quality care, responsive to needs

Respite services are available 364 days per year, bookings can be made via the approved booking process, after registration. 

Respite Services currently operate from Yoorana (Westbourne Park), Education Road (Happy Valley), Redman/Parkholme, and Trowbridge Annexe (Mitchell Park).
